is going to struggle to make points in the midst of youthful champions and
the rising summer heat. But, in the fourth round, the second seed Babu

of Kerala won the 1st Ranjit Patkar Memorial FIDE Rating tournament held
from May 2-9 at Karwar in North Karnataka. Ratnakaran scored eight points

Memorial FIDE Rating Chess Tournament at Karun in Tamil Nadu on
May 10. Only last month this girl from a chess playing family
completed her maiden Woman International Master norm in the
National Women's A Chess Championship at Visakhapatnam
Bountiful April For India
April 2006 was the most productive
month in terms of grandmaster additions for India. When the Elo
rating list was published on April 1, 2006 it was certain that
P.Magesh Chandran of Madurai became India's twelfth grandmaster
as he crossed the required 2500 rating mark.

The 1986-born Saptarshi became richer by Rs.61,000 after scoring a final
