Humpy Finishes In Middle

Favourite, defending champion and World No.2 Koneru Humpy lost two games,
won two games and drew three to finish on 3.5/7 in the 5th North Urals Cup
Category 11 Women's Tournament. This has been the strongest women's
tournament ever and it ran from July 26-August 3 at Krasnoturinsk, Russia
Former world women's champion Antoaneta Stefanova of Bulgaria won the
event with 4.5/7 and importantly scored over Humpy early in the
tournament.
Humpy lost the first two games and then clawed back to regain some of her
lost rating. She will be losing plenty of Elo. Marie Sebag (Fra) also
defeated her. Humpy beat Cramling and Pogonina and drew the rest.
Final placings: 1 GM Antoaneta Stefanova (Bul) 4.5/7, 2-3. IM Anna
Ushenina (Ukr), IM Marie Sebag (Fra) 4 each, 4-5. GM Xu Yuhua (Chn), GM
Koneru Humpy (Ind) 3.5 each, 6-7. GM Pia Cramling (Swe), IM Anna Muzychuk
(Slo) 3 each, 8 WGM Natalija Pogonina (Rus) 2.5.
