Dronavalli Harika Gets Arjuna Award

World Junior Girls champion Dronavalli Harika of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh was honoured with the prestigious Arjuna Award given by the Government of India for excellence in sports once in a lifetime.

All India Chess Federation congratulates her on this latest achievement and wishes her more success in the future. Harika has a long way to go in her career. She had won many world age-group titles and the last one was the World Junior at Turkey this month. This award is for excellence in 2007.

She became the 14th Indian chess player to receive this award after: Manuel Aaron, Rohini Khadilkar, Dibyendu Barua, P.M. Thipsay, Viswanathan Anand, D.V. Prasad, Bhagyashree Thipsay, Anupama Gokhale, S. Vijayalakshmi, K. Sasikiran, Koneru Humpy, S.S. Ganguly, P. Harikrishna. Further details can be seen on http://yas.nic.in
