The Delhi Chess Association is proud to announce that the Commonwealth Chess Championship this year will be a full fledged norm tournament. Already 12 titled players from abroad, and more than 20 FIDE rated players from outside the country have confirmed their participation in the tournament which is an excellent news for norm seekers as according to FIDE stipulations minimum 20 rated and 10 titled players are necessary for an open tournament to be a full fledged norm tournament (wherein one does not need to meet players from four countries etc.). The Delhi Chess Association has achieved it this time. Earlier days, to make it a norm tournament we used to have an International open incorporated in the Commonwealth Championship but this time it is a different story.....It is commonwealth Championship only. Players only from commonwealth countries are going to participate. We thank all the players. 

The official hotel of the Commonwealth Championship will be REGENT CONTINENTAL , New Delhi. All the official participants will be hosted in this hotel and foreign players who are not official participants will have to stay in the same hotel For details please refer to our web page www.delhichess.com .

Grandmaster Gawain Jones of England is likely to be the top seed. The Indian challenge will be spearheaded by National champion Surya Shekhar Ganguly and Asian Bronze medallist Abhijit Kunte. From Delhi, Parimarjan Negi, the youngest Grandmaster in the world will be star attraction apart from Asian Women's champion Tania Sachdev.
